Newspapers in Education is a program aimed at helping teachers improve student learning in the areas of current events, social studies, geography and world affairs by providing newspapers and lesson plans to classrooms across the country. NIE curricula helps improve students' standardized test scores and critical thinking skills while providing an understanding of the world beyond their immediate experiences. The Signal supports NIE by providing newspapers daily to schools throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
