The Santa Clarita Valley Jaycees will host the 8th annual Fight It! 5k Race and Walk-a-thon, benefiting the Brenda Mehling Cancer Fund Saturday, May 16 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The Brenda Mehling Cancer Fund supports patients ages 18-40 as they undergo cancer treatment. It provides services to meet patients' daily needs that are not covered by insurance.

The fund-raising run/walk takes place on the cross-country course through Central Park in Santa Clarita.

The event is open to walkers and runners of all abilities, along with their canine companions.

In addition to the race, there will be breakfast, a DJ, raffles, refreshments and freebies from local businesses.

Check-in will begin at 7 a.m. The race will start at 8 a.m. and the awards ceremony will be held at 9 a.m.
