This month we will be discussing issues that will affect your pocketbook plus much much more.
By U.S. mail, you will be receiving ballots to determine if the current Storm Water fees and methods of calculating how much large and small property owners will be required to contribute will change.
Mr. Travis Lange will be at the meeting to explain the reason for Storm Water fees, what they pay for and how the structure of the fees are proposed to be changed. This should go a long way to enable you to make an informed decision when filling out your ballot.
The proposed 300% sewer assessment increase was put on hold by Sanitation District Board Members Frank Ferry and Laurene Weste at a meeting held, at City Hall, on May 26. Sanitation district staff were sent back to answer a large number of questions about the increase.
Mayor Ferry stated at the June 9 Council Meeting that he wants the Sanitation District to look into alternate solutions. But the Sanitation District has been quoted as saying something very different and now even Newhall Land is getting into the act. This issue is far from put to bed. We need to watch this item very closely. We will talk about what we can do to prevent this ill conceived 300% tax increase from becoming a reality.
Mr Cruz Caldera will present status of the Extreme Neighborhood Makeover and plans for the completion of Phase 1 (Lower North Oaks). In addition, a new volunteer program is being considered to help the city accomplish monthly sign sweeps in Canyon Country. He will explain this new proposal.
The Rooming House ordinance passed it's first hurdle at the June 9 City Council Meeting. It is now on the the second reading and an up/down vote. We will show you exactly what the ordinance says. If you have any concerns or suggestions now will be the time to provide an input.
Remember when Capt. LaBerge spoke at a CCAC meeting and told us about the Sheriff Department's plans to perform targeted gang sweeps? We will tell you about the one that was conducted just a few weeks ago.
Want to know what is happening with Open Space and how are Assessment Fees are being spent? Well, we have the information and will provide you with an overview.
Plus ....signs, signs and more signs. We take two steps forward and one step back. Pictures of progress and frustration will be shown. Be ready to sing Happy Birthday to a sign we reported 1 year ago that is still there.
I look forward to seeing you there.
