Shelley and G. Marshall Hann have lived in the Santa Clarita Valley for 19 years, most of their time was spent in Stevenson Ranch. However, last year Shelley Hann found her dream home on a quiet cul-de-sac in Westridge.

“We bought the home June 18, we’ve been remodeling it for exactly a year to the day,” she said.

Hann said the couple’s goal in remodeling the four bedroom, 5 bathroom home was to create a comfortable space for entertaining.

“We’re not fancy people and we wanted a home that was open and welcoming to our friends,” she said.

In addition to friends Hann said she wanted to be able to host parties for the numerous nonprofits the couple support.

In addition to being a member of Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley Hann also serves on the boards of the Child and Family Center, the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Foundation Holiday Home Tour and is the Hospital Foundation Guild president.

Last year Hann founded the Shelley Hann Scholarship Award for the Guild’s Silver Rose Debutante program.

Hann enlisted a friend, Robyn Bialek of Vision & Style Interior Design, to decorate the house.

“She’s been my friend for 25 years,” said Hann. “When we bought this big house I had no idea where to start, I was at a total loss, then I remembered Robyn.”

Bialek had each piece of furniture custom built for the home.

“She really put it together,” said Hann. “What is beautiful about the house is that all the rooms flow together with the same feel — the colors all blend and tie together.”

Among Hann’s favorite rooms is the dining room which she sets with 50-year-old Noritake china.

“My uncle bought it for my mother. I think he brought it back from Korea. It’s a Noritake china set for 12. He paid $25 for it and I’ve had it in a box for 20 years,” Hann said. “It is so nice to have a dining room. I’ve waited 19 years for this dining where I could display all the things I’ve been collecting throughout the years.”

Among Hann’s collectibles is her Elvis decanter collection now on display in the “casino” room on the second floor.

The “casino” room was designed as an entertainment room where the Hann’s daughter, Ashley, 16, could hang out with friends.

“I love Los Vegas,” Hann said. “So the room is themed after the Paris Hotel.

Santa Clarita artist Darlene Marcos painted the sky murals in the room the cobblestone entrance archway and a French flower boutique.

“We wanted Ashley to have a room for her and friends to be comfortable,” said Hand.

The Hann’s backyard features an outdoor living space which brings the square footage of the home, dubbed “Chateau Hann” by the couple, to 5,500 square feet.

The outdoor granite bar can seat 25.

“Brian Smith Landscaping constructed the patio area and it is absolutely stunning,” said Hann.

Marshall Hann created the design for the home’s backyard pool constructed by Bouquet Construction.

Shelley Hann works as a hair stylist and Marshall Hann is an attorney.

Hann said she’s had her eye on a Westridge home since the gated subdivision was built.

“I love the quiet streets and the community,” Hann said. “We are so excited that we can now entertain 50 to 100 people at a time and not have to rent chairs.”
