A teenager was taken to a local hospital with apparently minor injuries after a van hit him on his bike Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 5 p.m. near the intersection of Esterbrook Avenue and Camp Plenty Road.

The 14-year-old was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for examination, sheriff’s deputies said.

After the collision, a twisted bicycle and a lightly damaged van remained in the street as deputies examined evidence. The cause was under investigation.
