Sheriff's deputies on Wednesday arrested a man near Castaic who was driving a stolen car loaded with 400 pounds of frozen seafood, along with burglary tools and methamphetamine, authorities said.

Robert Bradford, 24, was booked on suspicion of grand theft auto, receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine for sale and possession of burglary tools, said Lt. Mark Hershey.

About 6:30 a.m., Bradford was driving a Lexus northbound on Interstate 5 near Highway 126 when a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy noticed the car had been stolen and pulled him over, Hershey said.

When they searched the car, they found more than 400 pounds of frozen shrimp, salmon and tilapia.

The large amount of fish has since been taken back to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

"The salmon and tilapia wasn't quite as frozen as the shrimp," Hershey said. "It kind of wiggles around as you throw it in the trash can. The shrimp - it just seems so wasteful."

Waste collectors were expected to come pick up the frozen fish. But they hadn't shown up six hours after the bust.

"It's going to stink," Hershey said. "So they need to get it pretty soon."
