Some of us have decided to take action and are circulating a petition that would allow voters in the next general election to make the California Legislature part-time in 2012.
A majority of states do not breed a full-time political class more interested in its own perks and growing government at the expense of the people.
A part-time Legislature allows elected officials to focus on issues of importance under the watchful eye of the people who are governed and spend less time making mischief.
I urge you and fellow readers of The Signal to visit the Web site www.reformcal.com, download the petition formally titled “The Citizen Legislature Act” and send it in.
Seven hundred thousand signatures are required to get it on the ballot and your prompt action will save the committee time and money.
This is not the time for despair, but it is time to take positive action to renew California’s golden future.
