Detectives released a composite sketch Friday of a man whom they said tried to abduct a woman at a Canyon Country bus stop earlier this week — one of at least four apparently unrelated attempted kidnappings in an eight-day period.

The sketch depicts a man who tried to pull a 45-year-old Canyon Country woman into his car after asking for directions, a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station report read.

On Oct. 11, A 45-year-old  Canyon Country woman was waiting at a bus stop at 1 p.m. near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Dolan Street when a man reportedly pulled up in a car and asked her for directions, according to the sheriff’s report.

The woman leaned toward the car to answer his question when he reportedly reached out and grabbed her arms in an apparent attempt to pull her into the car, the report said.

As the woman yelled and began kicking the car door, other people in the area appeared to take notice and the suspect drove away, the report stated.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s with a slight build, black hair and a mustache.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a 1980s white or light-beige two-door car. The front fender had black primer paint on the driver’s side, the report stated.

The attempted kidnapping occurred just a day before two children were reportedly nearly abducted in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Last Monday, a 15-year-old girl walking in Newhall fled from a man who pulled up next to her in a white four-door compact car and grabbed her, sheriff’s officials said.

About eight hours later, an 11-year-old boy walking a couple of blocks away from Tesoro Del Valle Elementary School fled from a man who pulled up next to him in a silver four-door sedan and told him to get into the car.

On Wednesday, deputies arrested a Newbury Park man on suspicion of kidnapping his ex-wife after he allegedly took her to a remote area in Saugus against her will on Oct. 4 and beat her before she walked home, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Brenda Cambra.

Sheriff’s officials advised residents to be aware of people around them, to avoid conversation with strangers, to avoid remote, unlit areas and places where people can easily hide, and to walk with friends when possible.

Officials also said residents should report crimes immediately after they occur.

Deputies are asking anyone with information about the attempted kidnappings to immediately contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121.

Anyone with information specifically about the Canyon Country incident can contact Detective Christina Bryne of the station’s Robbery and Assault Team at (661) 799-5145.
