An 18-year-old Newhall man is due in court today after he allegedly stole a child’s iPod, officials said.

Deputies arrested the man Wednesday on suspicion of robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia a day after the alleged Tuesday afternoon incident, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Brenda Cambra.

The man reportedly rode a black BMX bike up to two eighth-grade boys walking home from school on the South Fork trail between 16th Street and Wiley Canyon Road, Cambra said.

He appeared to be holding something inside his sweatshirt pocket and demanded the boys’ iPods.
One boy gave his to the man, who then rode away, Cambra said.

Deputies arrested the suspect near the trail Thursday and were investigating his involvement in the crime, Cambra said.
