Strong Santa Ana winds continue to whip across Southern California and the Santa Clarita Valley tonight with gusty offshore winds and low relative humidity expected at times through Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The service issued a wind advisory Monday to remain in effect in the SCV until Tuesday. On Tuesday afternoon, the service extended the warning through 3 p.m. Wednesday.

East to northeast winds 25-35 mph with gusts to 50 mph continue, becoming more widespread after dark.

The strongest winds will occur along the Santa Clara River valley (including the SCV and the Highway 126 corridor west to Ventura), the western San Fernando Valley and the Malibu hills.

The service expects winds to strengthen Wednesday night, and may issue additional advisories if the winds persist into Thanksgiving Day.

A strong high pressure system over California's Great Basin is pushing these high winds, which can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

The service adds that temperatures will increase into the 80s and lower 90s across the interior valleys and parts of the Ventura and Los Angeles County coasts by midweek.

Wednesday will be breezy with a daytime high of 81 and nighttime low of 53.

Thanksgiving Day is expected to be sunny with a high of 84 and a nighttime low of 50.

Friday's temperature is expected to drop to 70.
