So let me get this straight.
A sheriff’s deputy who puts his life on the line every day to protect the people of this valley was searching for a burglary suspect who, by the way, could have been armed and dangerous. Along comes a six-year-old with a large dog that decides the deputy may be a threat to its family.
The deputy defends himself from attack and it’s somehow now his fault? It would be nice of him to help pay for the removal of a bullet?
Maybe he should pay for counseling too, since the child will clearly be scarred for life.
What about her family? I guess they have no personal responsibility in all this.
What kind of people give a child control over a dog they cannot control? If anything, the officer should receive compensation for being attacked.
That family should be held accountable for letting a large dog loose on the people of Santa Clarita Valley. Suppose the little dog and child had come upon a little old grandma out for a walk on a bright sunny day and the dog decided she was a threat to the little girl. Grandmas don’t normally go out for a stroll armed with guns and Tasers.
Or what if Honey had run out into the street and gotten hit by a car. Should the driver pay for the veterinarian bill?
Here’s a thought; maybe they should send their request to the federal government. There must be an appropriate department that will send these folks a “bailout” for their lack of planning.
I hope that child learns a lesson from this, in spite of the adults around her. When you take an animal out on a leash it’s you who is responsible, not the rest of society.
