City and county officials are offering $35,000 to anyone who turns in two suspected debit card thieves who allegedly attacked a local sheriff’s deputy last month, officials said.

“Anyone who would attack a deputy is dangerous and we are extremely concerned that they are still at large,” said City Councilwoman Marsha McLean. “Our deputies are out there every day putting their lives on the line for our safety, and this was a pretty blatant attack. ... We’re hoping that a reward would help to get some information on it.”

The Santa Clarita City Council approved a resolution Tuesday that made a $10,000 reward available to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors also approved a $25,000 reward Tuesday.

On Nov. 11, the two men allegedly hit and kicked the deputy after he pulled them over for a traffic violation in front of Consumers Furniture Gallery on Golden Triangle Road in Canyon Country, sheriff’s officials said.

After the attack, the men allegedly fled in a pickup truck.

Detectives later determined the suspects used stolen and fraudulent debit cards to buy items at stores in the Santa Clarita Valley, Studio City, Sunland, Burbank and Sun Valley, sheriff’s officials said.

The suspects’ capture is a county issue because the suspects used stolen debit cards in multiple areas, said Tony Bell, spokesman for the county supervisor.

“Bad guys don’t necessarily follow geographical lines, nor do they stay in one place,” Bell said. “That’s why rewards of this nature can be very helpful to law enforcement, because one bit of information that may not seem important can help solve a case.”

The suspects’ truck is described as a white, four-door Nissan Titan, made between the years of 2007 and 2009.

The truck reportedly had a damaged front, passenger-side bumper.

The driver is described as man of medium build who appears to be between 25 and 30 years old with a goatee.

The passenger is described as a man between 50 and 55 years old.
