The Santa Clarita Valley Emergency Winter Shelter will stay open all day today to allow for people to escape the cold and wet weather.

About 45 people stayed at the homeless shelter Wednesday night, Executive Director Tim Davis said.

As of 11 a.m., about 20 people were at the shelter, with room for more, he said.

The shelter is located at 26301 Golden Valley Road, just south of Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita 91350.
