The 42nd annual Lasagna Dinner, hosted by the Xi Nu Zeta sorority, attracted a sold out crowd of 200 on Saturday to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish Hall in Newhall.
The event raises funds for the Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Foundation.
The 23 members of the sorority annually present a check to the foundation to benefit graduating seniors in the SCV. A Xi Nu Zeta scholarship has been created by the foundation to honor the more than four decades of support supplied to the foundation by the sorority.
This year’s event featured musical entertainment by the Men of Harmony, Roger Baartman, Harry Bell, Donald Carson, Cal Erickson, Duncan Gilman, Bob Houston, Robert Lang, Jack Matson, Dave Norman, Keith Obert, Richard Roelofs and Gerry Staack.
Sally Coss, Jean Kost, Kathy Rakness, Danielle Rueff and Vivian Wightman chaired the event with the rest of the group, including current president Barbara Dyck and members Roxane Chenault, Jeanne Donson, Mary Lynne Fry, Susan Hilton, Mary House, Laurie Jones, Judy Kascoutas, Evie Leslie, Dorothy Losier, Chrissie Macleod, Darlene McLeish, Barbara Molinar, Gerry Morey, Alana Quinn, Shirley Schneller, Dottie Smith and Roberta Zaharris, helping to work the event.
The 10 raffle baskets, which included two Disney-themed baskets as well as garden, Italian, family, spa and beauty, sports, chocolate, toffee, relaxation baskets, were popular with guests.
Donors included All Corked up, Pam Beaman, Carol and Larry’s Hair Salon, Carrie Cruse Spa Treatments, Castaic Water, Classic Designs Jewelry, Robin Clough, Deborah/Plush Beauty by Design, Elkins Ranch Golf Course, Melinda Gilmore, Dr. Carolyn Griffin, Hairitage Studio/E.A., Dr. Kim DDS, Kost family, Leslie/Celebrity, Lily’s Cafe, Lyons Liquor Store, Maria’s Deli, Margarita’s Beauty Salon, Me Catering by Mary Lynn Fry, Minnie Max Cleaners, Santa Barbara Zoo, Smart and Final, Steve’s Florist, Wightman family, World’s Best Toffee/Chris Owens and Xi Nu Zeta sorority members.
