Santa Clarita City Council Candidate Johnny Pride of Valencia, Calif. was released from custody Saturday morning after the L.A. County District Attorney said there was insufficient evidence to charge him for suspicion of rape.

Johnny Pride, the Santa Clarita City Council candidate booked for investigation of raping two 14-year-old girls, was released from jail Saturday after the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said there was insufficient evidence.

"The investigation is ongoing, including further investigation into the processing of DNA evidence," Sheriff's Special Victims Bureau Sgt. Dan Scott said in a news release. The Special Victims Bureau is heading up the investigation.

Officials at the Special Victims Bureau could not be reached for comment Saturday.

Pride, 26, of Valencia, was released from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station jail at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the news release.

Messages left for Pride on his cell phone were not returned Saturday.

Pride, a model and actor, was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of raping two 14-year old girls, just hours after he participated in a candidates' forum at a Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

Sheriff's officials said the exact details of the alleged crimes could not be released because the two alleged victims are minors. Pride was booked on charges of rape, lewd conduct with a minor, sodomy, oral copulation of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a sheriff's report.

Pride worked for less than a month for the William S. Hart Union High School District at Canyon High School in 2008, district officials said Friday.

He was a walk-on coach and a substitute campus supervisor, though it was not clear which sport he coached.

Pride has also appeared in at least two reality television shows, including "The Conveyor Belt of Love," in which he wore bikini briefs and held a dog, and in "The Battle of the Bods." At Thursday's forum he told the Chamber audience he had just returned from an audition for a boxing reality television show.
