According to a report from the California Highway Patrol office in Newhall, Martin E. Simon, 47, lost control of his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle while traveling northbound and was thrown into the southbound lane, along with the motorcycle, about 10:05 a.m.
The Los Angeles County Coroners Office determined that Simon died of injuries suffered when he was thrown from his motorcycle, according to the report.
A second man, 46-year-old Douglas Ross of Lancaster, was traveling southbound in his 1998 Nissan Sentra and swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting Simon and his motorcycle but accidentally ran over Simon’s lower legs.
The report said Simon was removed from underneath the Sentra by people at the scene who attempted to provide CPR.
Ross was unharmed in the collision.
