Mark Eddie brings his own comedic style of musical imitation for an upcoming fundraiser for Congregation Beth Shalom in Santa Clarita. The event will be held on Saturday, with tickets costing $20.

Sitting in a booth at Corner Bakery, Mark Eddie broke into an animated impression of Jamaican-American reggae singer Shaggy.
With puckered lips and hands flailing in the air, the 42-year-old Valencia father blurted out a jumbled mix of lyrics.

"It's kind of like the voice you hear when you pull through the McDonald's drive-through," Eddie said, jestingly.
Musical imitation is the type of comedy that brings Eddie to life.

"It's classic and silly at the same time," he said.

For those who are unfamiliar with Shaggy, Eddie will also imitate well-known musical artists such as John Mayer, Neil Diamond and Dave Matthews at an upcoming fundraiser for Congregation Beth Shalom.

When the Jewish congregation asked Eddie to be the headlining performance, the comedian and songwriter had no problem pulling together some friends in high places for a humorous event.

"There are a lot of comics that live out here," Eddie said. "We've kind of nicknamed it the Santa Comedic Valley."

Eddie, a Valencia resident, lined up comedians Dana Eagle, Don McMillan, of Santa Clarita and Collin Moulton, of Santa Clarita.
McMillan was the $100,000 Grand Champion on "Star Search" in 1993 and has starred in 15 national commercials for Budweiser Beer. Eagle's credits include "The Late, Late Show" with Craig Ferguson, Comedy Central and more. Comedy Central has also featured Moulton on its "Best of the Improv."

"You would have to go to a show in Hollywood to see a show of this caliber," Eddie said. "Every one of these acts is like a $10,000 (per) night act."

Eddie is not Jewish but he's pleased at the opportunity to help out the local congregation. The show is also yet another excuse to entertain a new crowd.

"We just all really like to be on stage," he said.

The spotlight is nothing new to this comic and singer/songwriter.

Eddie is a five-time Campus Entertainer of the Year nominee heard on SIRIUS-XM Satellite Radio, Raw Dawg Comedy, The Bob & Tom Show, The Five O-Clock Funnies and more.

But when he's not on the radio, television, college campuses or in coffee shops, he is performing at world class comedy clubs such as The Improv or Hollywood's Laugh Factory.

He's been blending guitar tunes and standup comedy for 11 years. But his natural knack for humor spans decades back, as does his musical career.

"I've always been a bit of a comedian since I was even a child," he said. "I was always the cute little kid saying stupid things."
About 11 years ago, he took on an open stage at a comedy club and he was hooked, he said.

"I was used to being in bars and concert-type settings; nobody really wanted to hear what you thought about things," he said. "But comedy clubs, it's all about what you think about something."

"It was like therapy in a sense," he added.
