The display at the start of the trails at the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area offers a quick glimpse into the history of the movies and television programs that have been shot at the famous location. There are photos and flyers from recent, well-known productions to those so old they are barely remembered by film historians.

Production teams have been coming here since 1905, and anyone who has ever watched the big or small screen probably recognizes the unforgettable profile of these unusual rocks in Aqua Dulce.

It's no wonder the site is so popular with filmmakers. The dramatic features of the area well-suit both "alien landscapes" and "Wild West" settings. Do you remember Captain James T. Kirk up on the rocks in "Star Trek"?
