The city of Santa Clarita is now streaming live images of the construction progress of the new Old Town Newhall library and Phase 2 of the streetscape on Main Street at SantaClaritaLibrary.com/webcam.asp.

The streaming video will allow residents to monitor the progress of the city's newest additions to Old Town Newhall throughout the construction.

The new library will replace the older and smaller existing library on 9th Street. The new facility is being constructed at the intersection of Lyons Avenue and Main Street and will be an anchor for future revitalization of the area.

There has been much public interest in the design and functionality of the new library and the webcam will allow residents to see the creation of what will likely be a Santa Clarita landmark for years to come.

"There is so much excitement about the new library and the web camera will let the community follow the progress of this important project," Mayor Laurene Weste said.

"Future generations of Santa Clarita will come to know the Old Town Newhall Library as a focal point of the community. Witnessing the library being built is truly historic," she added.

The webcam is live on the city's website now and will remain in place for the entire length of construction.

The city has previously streamed live images via webcam for both the Aquatic Center and Skate Park construction.
