Only a freshman, she was already competing with the league's elite.
In 2007, she finished second in the Foothill League behind the two-time defending league champion Isabella Fraczek.
As the season came to a close, all eyes turned to 2008 and the impending duel between Fraczek and Hart's Anne Susdorf.
Consider the torch passed.
This year's Foothill League champion, a first team All-Leaguer and now All-Santa Clarita Valley Player of the Year, Susdorf has officially taken up the mantle of "player to beat."
Hart's No. 1 singles player did not lose in match play this season, finishing 52-0.
It wasn't until the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Individual Tennis Championships that the sophomore found her kryptonite in the form of Stacey Tan of Lakewood High.
Susdorf and Fraczek only had one opportunity to face off this season because of an injury to the Valencia senior.
On Oct. 2, Susdorf won the symbolic match, 6-1.
With Fraczek graduating in the spring, the Foothill League becomes Susdorf's kingdom.
But she will not be without her challenges.
West Ranch's Ana Lucia Fuentes, also a sophomore, looks poised to give Susdorf a run for her money.
However, if 2008 is any indication, Susdorf will be ready.
Getting better and better as time goes by, graduation may be the only thing that could spell the end of the Indian sophomore's league dominance.
