A local dry-cleaning shop is making sure the unemployed still look good.
Through Sept. 2, Flair Cleaners is offering free dry-cleaning to the unemployed for up to four pieces of clothing per week.
The promotion began earlier this month, said Maria Trejos, manager of the Valencia location.
Founded in 1958, Flair also has shops in Burbank, Studio City, Redondo Beach and Santa Monica. The Valencia store has been open for seven years.
To take advantage of the promotion, Trejos said customers must have a valid ID and their most recent unemployment stub from the state Employment Development Department.
Average dry-cleaning bills can hover in the $20 range, and she said some customers come in one to several times per week.
“We wanted to find a way to help our customers and help the community surrounding our stores,” Flair owner Gary Futterman said. “People are really hurting right now. It seems like (the economy) is going to get worse before it gets better.”
Flair Cleaners is located at 27011 McBean Parkway.
Flair isn’t the first business to give a helping hand to out-of-work locals. Earlier this year, PostNet in Saugus offered free resume printing — and discounted faxing — to unemployed job-seekers.
