It was around 9:30 p.m. Monday night when a Walgreens employee saw the makings of a bull session outside the Castaic store.

More specifically, she watched as three bulls lumbered past the front entrance and went behind the building.

When California Highway Patrol Officers arrived on the scene, they saw the bulls walking up Sloan Canyon Road near The

Old Road, according to Officer John Lutz with the CHP's Newhall area station.

Lutz said the officers were able to contact the bulls' owner, who apparently lives nearby.

Norman Howell, the bulls' owner, was driving a street in the area looking for his animals when he said a CHP officer stopped him and asked if he knew anyone who might own three bulls.

"Luckily, it was us," he said.

Howell did not specify how the bovines got loose.

Howell brought a horse trailer to a parking lot off Sloan Canyon Road, and CHP officers herded the loose cattle down a hill and into the trailer. There were no reported injuries or property damage.

"I couldn't believe how easy it was," Howell said. "Those guys are good cowboys."
