Go rubber ducky, go! Chants from the crowd will echo across Castaic Lake on Saturday when the seventh annual Rubber Ducky Regatta will send thousands of ducks on a race across the lake to capture a grand prize.

The individual who pays $5 to adopt the lucky duck that captures first place will win an eight day/seven night trip to Washington, D.C.

The Rubber Ducky Regatta benefits the Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers which has locations in Val Verde, Canyon Country and Newhall.

The second place prize is a playhouse/firehouse for children, and the third prize is a dinner party for 10 at Chateau Hann, donated by Shelley and G. Marshall Hann.

Other prizes include classes from ELITE Dance Studios; one month (4 consecutive weeks) of cleaning service from BZ B; Disneyland Resort Park Hopper passes; a rolling bag, hats, and gloves for women, men and kids from Mechanix Wear; a drum from REMO; a Spa Escapes package featuring a complimentary home spa experience with five or more friends, including 10 relaxing spa treatments; Magic Mountain passes; passes to Aquarium of the Pacific; passes to Skateland in Northridge and passes to Mountasia Fun Center in Saugus.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich will serve as honorary chairman of the event. Santa Clarita Councilman Bob Kellar will be emcee, and KCAL/CBS news anchor Sandra Mitchell will be the celebrity guest.

"I love this event," Mitchell said. "I love that it's a bit silly ... seeing all those yellow rubber ducks. It is a fun afternoon for the family. And, I love that all that silliness provides an opportunity for us to help with the serious issue of improving health care here in our own community."

All proceeds from the event will go toward patient care at the Dixon Family Health Centers, which offer affordable, quality primary health care for residents of the Santa Clarita Valley. The Centers make a special effort to serve the uninsured and underinsured.

The 2008 Rubber Ducky Regatta raised $40,000 for patient care.

Race time is 1 p.m. This year's event will be held in conjunction with Castaic Days.

The Dixon Family Health Centers operates three health centers in the SCV - Canyon Country Health Center, Val Verde Health Center and Newhall Health Center - as well as outreach sites at College of the Canyons and California Institute of the Arts. Patients pay based on their income. This past year, the Centers provided service for 9,000 patient visits.
