Lassie, perhaps the most famous pet in the world, will make a special appearance to benefit her homeless brothers and sisters during "Rescues on the Runway" to be held Sunday, Nov. 22 at the Hyatt Valencia.
"This is a fashion show/dinner fundraiser where the proceeds go toward rescuing animals from the kill shelters in Los Angeles County," said Mardi Rivetti, producer of Rescues on the Runway.
The event will feature a holiday boutique, holiday fashion show and dinner.
Tickets are $75 each and each ticket sold rescues one dog or cat from a shelter's "death row."
"If you can't attend the event, we appreciate any donations in any amount," said Rivetti.
The past and present titleholders of the Miss SCV Scholarship Program will appear at the event as models in the fashion show fundraiser which will feature fashions by designer Mul Tayoba.
The boutique opens at 3:30 p.m. and the dinner/fashion show will begin at 5:30 p.m. A raffle for baskets and other prizes will also be held. Winners need not be present.
"So many pets are killed each week in shelters. So many of us go on with our everyday life thinking nothing of this desperate situation for our pets," said Rivetti.
