Deputies arrested a former College of the Canyons football player and two other men earlier this week after they allegedly broke into two cars in Stevenson Ranch, officials said.

Deputies arrested student athlete Lequan Marquise Williams, 18, of Valencia, and two other men early Thursday morning on suspicion of attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Brenda Cambra.

College of the Canyons officials confirmed Friday that the suspect's full name matches that of the football player, and that he has been removed from the team.

However, it wasn't clear if his removal was related to the arrest.

The two men arrested with Williams were Joshua Levon Lennon, 20, of Valencia, and Brian Sonnenblick, 21, of Valencia.

Deputies arrested the three shortly after a Stevenson Ranch resident told deputies he saw them allegedly breaking into his Ford Edge and a neighbor's Mercedes about 12:30 a.m. in the 25300 block of Irving Lane, Cambra said.

The resident called deputies as he drove after the men, who fled in their own car, Cambra said.

Deputies caught the suspects near the intersection of Poe Parkway and Stevenson Ranch Parkway, she said.

Williams and Lennon were being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. Sonnenblick was held on similar bail but was released after posting bond, Cambra said.
