It’s a matter of freedom

Where does the Constitution state an individual health insurance mandate?

At a recent news conference, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was asked where the Constitution grants Congress the authority to enact an individual health insurance mandate.  Madame speaker inadequately brushed off the question publically, refusing the reporter a simple and truthful answer.

We can only speculate that it’s a matter of constitutional contempt or constitutional ignorance on the part of the exalted lady. (Yikes! Could it be both?) Do our elected officials even know and understand the highest law of the land when they raise their hand and swear allegiance to it? Do they understand the concept of freedom of speech or the press? It’s not a matter of whether one is liberal or conservative, male or female, Democrat or Republican or any other group. It’s a matter of whether we are going to remain a relatively free people or permit this kind of insidious encroachment of our liberties to continue.
