Children who may have gone without presents during the holidays will now have something to unwrap, thanks to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and local businesses.

Power Honda Valencia is opening its doors Thursday to celebrate the start of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station's annual toy drive, officials said.

Santa Claus and singing choral groups from local schools will visit the dealership where donation boxes will be set up from 4:30 p.m. to about 7 p.m., said Power Honda Valencia General Manager Carlos Dominguez.

Residents can also drop off donations at the sheriff's station until Dec. 18, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Laurie Baylis.

Sheriff's officials are asking for toys, clothing, wrapping paper and gift certificates worth $20 or more.

The donations will be used for a "Toy Store" set up later this month where children can visit Santa Claus while their parents personally pick out the gifts their children will receive.

Residents can also donate their time by volunteering between Dec. 17 and Dec. 20 to help set up and run the "Toy Store" event.

Those looking to help children in need can also donate unwrapped gifts to The Warrior Fitness on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at its annual Christmas party at the Hyatt Regency Valencia in the Grand Ballroom, according to a statement from the Santa Clarita fitness business.

All the donated gifts and proceeds from the party will be given to the organization Toys for Tots.
