The city’s unemployment rate increased to 4.3 percent in June, a jump from May’s 3.9 percent, according to the state’s Employment Development Department.

The numbers, which were released Friday and are not seasonally adjusted, represent a labor force of 91,000 and an employment of 87,200. The total number of unemployed for June is 3,900.

The city’s unemployment rate continues to remain under Los Angeles County’s rate of 7.1 percent.

In May, the city’s unemployment rate was just under 4 percent and the number was attributed to the sluggish economy and particularly the slump in residential construction.
