Isabella Fraczek
Valencia, senior
Having already made her mark on Foothill League tennis, the two-time defending All-SCV Girls Tennis Singles Player of the Year ends 2008 and her time with the Vikings as a member of the All-Foothill League and All-SCV first team. Fraczek finished third in league this season with a record of 17-2 in league play, and 59-7 through playoffs. The senior also claimed the 2008 Fall Brawl Tennis Tournament Championship in October. Unfortunately, injuries hindered her ability to repeat the dominance the league had become accustomed to. She missed three weeks with a shoulder strain sustained in a private lesson, but was still able to lead Valencia to its fourth consecutive CIF-Southern Section division team tennis final.
Ana Lucia Fuentes
West Ranch, sophomore
Only a sophomore, the duels between Fuentes and Susdorf will be entertaining the valley for years to come. At 31-7 overall, Fuentes made it to the Foothill League Girls Individual Tennis Finals after first knocking off Isabella Fraczek. After taking second in league, Fuentes also scored a big win in the CIF-Southern Section Division III wild card bracket, sweeping all three sets. As West Ranch's No. 1 singles player, she got better as the year went on and is primed for 2009. Fuentes was a leader for the Wildcats this season, who finished second in league as a team with a record of 11-3.
Thalia Wilczynski
Valencia, senior
A mainstay among the league's tennis elite, the Vikings will say goodbye to the graduating senior. Wilczynski finished 20-4 in league and 53-18 overall, taking fourth in league. Valencia's No. 2 singles player has been a leader for her team all year and for years prior, making the Vikings the most dominant squad in league.

The writing was on the wall a year ago.
Only a freshman, she was already competing with the league's elite.
In 2007, she finished second in the Foothill League behind the two-time defending league champion Isabella Fraczek.
As the season came to a close, all eyes turned to 2008 and the impending duel between Fraczek and Hart's Anne Susdorf.
Consider the torch passed.
This year's Foothill League champion, a first team All-Leaguer and now All-Santa Clarita Valley Player of the Year, Susdorf has officially taken up the mantle of "player to beat."
Hart's No. 1 singles player did not lose in match play this season, finishing 52-0.
It wasn't until the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Individual Tennis Championships that the sophomore found her kryptonite in the form of Stacey Tan of Lakewood High.
Susdorf and Fraczek only had one opportunity to face off this season because of an injury to the Valencia senior.
On Oct. 2, Susdorf won the symbolic match, 6-1.
With Fraczek graduating in the spring, the Foothill League becomes Susdorf's kingdom.
But she will not be without her challenges.
West Ranch's Ana Lucia Fuentes, also a sophomore, looks poised to give Susdorf a run for her money.
However, if 2008 is any indication, Susdorf will be ready.
Getting better and better as time goes by, graduation may be the only thing that could spell the end of the Indian sophomore's league dominance.
