An electrical fire near the intersection of Bouquet Canyon and Plum Canyon roads in Saugus knocked out power to 5,200 customers Thursday, a fire official said.
An equipment failure at 4:26 p.m. cut power to 5,200 customers, said Anna Frutos-Sanchez, Southern California Edison spokeswoman.
Sanchez declined to say what ignited the blaze.
Los Angeles County Firefighters put out the fire, Inspector Sam Padilla said.
Southern California Edison work crews switched power back on for half of the affected customers by about 6 p.m.
