We encourage you to share your thoughts and comment on stories and local opinion published by The Signal by writing a Letter to The Editor.

It's simple.

Online: To submit a Letter to The Editor online right now, click here.

You may also submit your letter by e-mail, snail mail or fax. We prefer online or e-mail.

E-mail: letters@the-signal.com. This bears repeating: No matter what your topic, please put "Letter to the Editor" in the subject field. Otherwise, it will get lost in our very aggressive spam filters.

Snail-Mail: Letter to the Editor; The Signal; P.O. Box 801870, Santa Clarita CA 91380-1870

Fax: (661) 255-9689

In any case, you must include your name, address and phone number. As you see by reading our Letters in the paper and online, we only publish your name and city along with your letter.

Anonymous letters are not printed. We also do not publish letters from outside The Signal's service area unless there is a local connection.

* Keep it concise, and no longer than 300 words, please.

* If you write longer, we may have to return it to you and ask you to trim it to that length.

* If you make factual statements, cite your sources. Unsubstantiated charges or claims reduce your credibility.

* Stick to the issues, and keep it civil. No name-calling. You should be able to make your point without resorting to that.

* You may write as many letters as you wish. However, only one letter by the same author will run per week. Alternatively, you can register as a Signal member, create your own blog and write as often as you like.

Your regarded opinion is most important to us. We're here to help you share it with the community.
