Santa Clarita Christian boys varsity baseball team defeated Los Angeles Lutheran 13-2 at the Hart Complex on Wednesday.
This was the second meeting this week for the two ball clubs.
The Cardinals defeated LA Lutheran on Tuesday 16-2.
Although the team had already clinched one win against the Trojans, they didn't want to go into Wednesday's game too confident.
"They (LA Lutheran) are capable of playing good ball," said SCCS head coach Garrick Moss. "We didn't want to assume that we would come in here and win against them again."
Moss was pleased with his teams overall performance.
Starting pitcher Brock Heerdt, who is now 3-2, threw for four innings, had seven strikeouts and allowed only one hit.
The Cardinals scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Already up 3-0, the Cardinals kicked off its offense in the third with senior Kyle Labeaune scoring his second run for SCCS stealing home base.
Followed by Brock Heerdt stealing home off a walk from Seth Secor.
Nick Bando scored for the Cardinals off a Micah Secor double.
Seth Secor and Micah Secor brought in the last two runs of the inning for the SCCS team.
Labeaune was 2-for-3 with a walk, stole a team high four bases and also scored four of the Cardinals 13 runs.
"Kyle really did his job for us tonight," Moss said. " He has a lot of speed and is the big off hitter that we can really count on."
Seth Secor and Nick Bando also assisted in the Cardinals win.
Secor stole two bases, had one RBI and scored one run for the Cardinals, while Bando was 1-for-3, stole three bases and scored twice for the SCCS squad.
The game was called after five innings applying the new CIF 10-run rule.
SCCS is currently 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the Heritage League. The team will face Hillcrest Christian next at Hillcrest Christian.
