To The Editor:

As we become increasingly aware of our interdependence with the natural world, I would like to express my
gratitude to all those who work to preserve our environment for our descendants. Specifically, thanks
to Congressman Buck McKeon and Sen. Barbara Boxer for their bipartisan effort to re-introduce legislation
that would preserve the Hoover Wilderness Additions in the Eastern Sierra and the Amargosa River in the
Mojave Desert.

Much of the wilderness that we enjoy today is the direct result of the bipartisan legislation of the '60s and '70s. I welcome the return of this amicable political climate, of which we all have been beneficiaries.

I would also like to urge Congressman McKeon and Sen. Boxer to include other beautiful natural areas in the Eastern Sierra, like the White Mountains. Looking out of our atmospheric canopy every night, I am filled with a sense of wonder at the thought that the origin of our universe precipitated everywhere.

These wild lands could also be protected through this legislation with the sagacity of our elected officials. Hope for the future expands with every person who awakens to the importance of protecting our world; the future members of our species will surely thank them.
