Santa Clarita Valley students and parents can earn points and prize money for their schools by test driving and buying cars at any Valencia Auto Center dealership during the month of May.

Labeled "Be Cool to My School," the test-drive rally of the Santa Clarita Valley Auto Dealers Association will award $1,000 each to the elementary, junior high, and senior high schools whose parents and students (over the age of 18) earn the most points by test driving and buying cars.

One hundred points will be given for each test drive, and 1,000 points will be given for each auto purchase.
Since 1 percent of the taxable sale of each car sold in Santa Clarita goes to the city, the rally will benefit the entire community.

"By shopping locally, buyers of automobiles help Santa Clarita build new parks, roads and other amenities in addition to supporting local safety and city services," Mayor Bob Kellar said.
