A month ago I lost my dad, Edward Garfalo. He was a frequent contributor to these opinion pages. He was a man of little words, so his letters were short and to the point: "One-liners," as he liked to call them.

He was proud to tell people that he was a published writer, but I think he just liked seeing his name in print.

I am not a writer; in fact, I hate to write. I'm just a daughter who loves and misses her dad and wants to honor him in some small way.

This is for you, Dad. I know you're looking down and smiling at seeing your name in print one last time. I love you.
