A former Golden Valley High School counselor faced reduced charges Wednesday after being arrested for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a teenage boy. Roselyn Hubbell pleaded not guilty in Newhall Municipal Court to charges of one misdemeanor count of annoying or molesting a child under the age of 18.

The charges were reduced from a felony level based on the evidence, according to Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

“We look at the evidence and we file the charges based on the evidence we have,” she said.

Hubbell, 33, was placed on leave from Golden Valley High in April after allegations of inappropriate relationships with two students came under investigation, and she resigned her position in May.
If found guilty, she faces a maximum sentence of one year in county jail and a fine of $5,000, according to Gibbons.

Hubbell was arrested June 10 on felony charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and child endangerment. She was attempting to check into a San Fernando Valley hotel with a minor at the time of her arrest. The boy was also arrested for cocaine possession.

She is still being investigated for an alleged inappropriate relationship with another boy.

Hubbell is scheduled to return to court for a pre-trial hearing on July 28 and for trial on Aug. 14.
