The Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley has a new executive director and a new vice president for its board of directors.

Nicole Shellcroft was named executive director, while Gail Ortiz was elected by the board to take over as vice president.

The new positions were effective July 1.

Shellcroft first began work at the center as shelter manager in 2005. She then worked as client services coordinator. She holds a master’s degree in social welfare from the University of California, Los Angeles.

“It is nothing short of amazing to look back at  what we have accomplished over the last 25 years; with these changes, we are all excited to see what we can do with the next 25!” Shellcroft said in a statement.

Gail Ortiz was elected vice president after longtime board member and former vice president Dean Anderson resigned. Ortiz has been a member of the Domestic Violence Center Board of Directors since 2004 and works as the communications manager for the city of Santa Clarita.

Angela Rubalcava was also named as the center's new program director.
