Valencia goalkeeper named an all-star
Shannon’s team advances to Soccer Academy finals

The U.S. Soccer Development Academy tournament finals continued at the Home Depot Center.

Valencia's Eric Shannon was one of eleven athletes named to the Southern California Conference All-Star Team.

His All-Star team status ranks him as one of the top eight goal keepers in the country in his age group.

Shannon's LAFC BU18 club team, which is sponsored by Adidas, defeated CASL soccer club 5-2 on

Wednesday to advance to the championship game which will air live on ESPN 2 at 8 p.m Friday.

Prior to Wednesday's victory, LAFC defeated Concorde Fire of Atlanta on Saturday and the Columbus Crew on Monday.

LAFC will face the Baltimore Bays in Friday's championship game.

The U.S. Soccer Development Academy, which was established in September, consists of top athletes from club teams throughout the U.S Soccer Organization.

LAFC BU18 club team squad defeated 15 teams in the Southern California Division in the Academy's Summer Showcase, held in Greensboro, N.C. back on June 27-30, to reach this weeks finals tournament.

After a 30 game season LAFC BU18 finished with an overall record of 25-2-3.
