Saturday, the misery continued with a 52-14 loss to the Cubs of Loyola.

Hart head coach Mike Herrington called the loss "pretty much a disaster" as the defense imploded to a tough Loyola team.

The Cubs came into the game with a 2-2 record, their two losses to teams that have combined for one loss in ten contests. Two weeks ago, Loyola lost to De La Salle by six points and last week they fell to St. John Bosco who is 5-0 on the season.

The defensive breakdown of Hart might have been foreseeable given their struggles early in the season, and they collision course they were on with Cubs running back Anthony Barr who came into the game with 809 yards on 94 rushes and 10 touchdowns.

Loyola jumped on the Indians early and often, amassing a 52-point lead before the visitors were able to get on the board against their reserves.

For Hart, the good news comes in the clean slate coming with league play.

The loss of Demitri Diamond early in the season may have been difficult to take, but the emergence of Jake Stephens as a power back has been one of the lone bright spots on the season, averaging just over 100 yards with four touchdowns.

Senior quarterback Spenser Souza has been asked to make the transition from wide receiver to signal caller and has found some success on the ground with three rushing touchdowns. The added pressure of taking the lead of the offense and learning the finer points of arguably the most difficult position in sports is no small task for anyone.

However, it is the defense that Herrington pointed out need the most work, noting that they will need to re-tool and change things up.

Next week, Hart will match up with another team looking for a turnaround when they face Saugus at College of the Canyons.

Coming off of three straight losses, the two teams will bring plenty of motivation to the table to show the league and the valley that their record is not indicative of their capabilities.

For the Indians, the fine-tuning may be a little more extensive.

"We've got to go back to the drawing board and prepare for a good Saugus team," Herrington added.
