Hart Alumni 2008 Basketball Game

The Hart high basketball hoopsters are sponsoring the annual boys basketball alumni game, which will be held at Hart High's Laurence K. Strauss Gymnasium on Nov. 26. The first game of the evening will begin at 6 p.m. with Young Alumni (2006-2008) vs. the Hart junior varsity team.

The final game is scheduled for 7 p.m. that night and will see the Hart varsity playing the Hart All-Star Alumni team (1945-2005). Admission to the game is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12 years of age. Contact head coach Tom Kelly at 818-415-7922 or e-mail tkelly@hartdistrict.org.

Greg Hayes Camp
Greg Hayes Training Camp 2008 will be held at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex December 29-31 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $90. Boys and Girls ages 7 to 15 can participate.

Sign up online through the Santa Clarita Recreation Dept. The camp will focus on shooting technique, individual offensive ball-handling, and scoring moves through fun and creative drills.

Second Annual Beast Holiday Run/Walk for Food
Join local runners and hikers Saturday, Dec. 13 for the second annual holiday scaling of The Beast to benefit the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry.

The Beast is a dirt-and-gravel fire road that begins at the park-and-ride where San Fernando Road dead-ends just east of Highway 14. Starting from an elevation of 1,100 feet above sea level, the trail winds steeply up the foothills of Whitney Canyon Park all the way to Los Pinetos Peak at an altitude of 3,864 feet.

Round trip is approximately 9.5 miles. Start time is 7 a.m. A $20 pledge earns you the much-sought-after "I Conquered The Beast" T-shirt and the admiration of your peers.

Come out and join the fun, or stay home and make a pledge from the comfort of your easy chair - your local community will benefit either way! The event is sponsored by Santa Clarita Runners. For more details, visit www.donsdiary.net.
