Golden Valley senior soccer player Natalie Lagunas stole the show on Thursday. Substituting into the game in the 61st minute for Mexico’s Under-20 Women’s National Team, Lagunas scored the game-winning goal late in a 2-1 victory over Trinidad & Tobago in the opening round of the CONCACAF Under-20 Women’s Championship. Two local men to be honored
Two men with local ties are being inducted into the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame alongside baseball superstar Ryan Braun and Los Angeles Laker Jordan Farmar on Jan. 30. Golden Valley head baseball coach Scott Drootin and Saugus resident and paddle tennis player Sol Hauptman are two of 13 sports-related people being inducted at the Skirball Cultural Center and Museum.

Local squad has bigger purpose
